Emma

  • This radiant handmade lace cuff bracelet is named after Emma Zorn, the wife of the famous Swedish artist Anders Zorn*. She appears in his paintings, but not many know that she was an excellent lace maker, taught classes in lace making, and was a strong supporter of local crafts in Mora, Sweden.

The lace we used inside of the cuff Emma is handmade ‘knypplad’ lace or in English “bobbin lace,” made from a thin cotton yarn. It is from the late 1800/early 1900s and was used as a trim for kerosene lamps. You can find these lamps in paintings from this time.

There is a limited edition of 20 cuffs. Each cuff is numbered 1/20, 2/20 etc. Signed by the designer. Sustainable. Handmade in the USA.

*) In the US, Anders Zorn’s paintings (1860-1920) hang in the White House in D.C., at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
